Depending on your interests or focus, visits vary in length and activities. The Fort is filled with exciting historic stories and information.

The Fort is open all year, with reduced scheduling during special events. When adverse weather occurs, we encourage guests to explore the covered areas of the Fort as well visiting the Trading Post. Extenuating circumstances such as steady rain for more than 3 hours during the day may sometimes require a guest to request a ticket for another days’ visit. And at the Fort guest satisfaction always comes first. Only if requested the guest will be offered a return visit (given same product originally purchased).

Free parking is conveniently located along the sides of Mardi Gras Park. Across the street on Royal there is metered paid parking lot. Paid meter parking is available throughout other parts of downtown as well. If you’re staying in a hotel downtown the Fort is a convenient two block walk from all major hotels.
